Roy Pfeffer
Band leader and drummer Roy Pfeffer stands as one of London's most recognised ambassadors of New Orleans music.
Leading the acclaimed New Orleans funk band, The Big Smoke Family, they have become regulars at Ronnie Scott's and favourites on New Orleans' biggest radio station, WWOZ.
He has studied with master drummer Herlin Riley (Wynton Marsalis, Ahmed Jamal) and with Joey Peebls (Trombone Shorty). His dedication to the craft has led him to share the stage with esteemed Nola legends like Cha Wa, Rebirth Brass Band and Zigaboo Modeliste and playing the Congo Square Stage at the renowned New Orleans Jazz fest.
Pfeffer's own trio offers a soulful mix of New Orleans jazz, Mardi Gras energy, and funk, with a repertoire ranging from Grant Green to Horace Silver and Idris Muhammad. They are fixtures at some of London's finest clubs and have performed at exclusive parties for notable figures such as the American Ambassador and Jeremy Clarkson.
